51st annual Brussels Tigers Tournament set for this weekend
This weekend, the Brussels Tigers will be hosting their 51st annual tournament, hot on the heels of their successful anniversary tournament, held last year.
The action begins on Friday night, with the host Brussels Tigers playing the Harwood Corners in Brussels at 7 p.m. At the same time, the Dundalk Smoke will play the Kitchener Selects in Ethel.
The Brussels Bangers will then play the Elmira Expos at 8:45 p.m. that night at the main diamond in Brussels, the second of three games there that night, while the Sebringville Sting and the Georgian Bay Giants will play at 8:45 p.m. in Ethel.
The final game of the night will be played at 10:30 p.m., with the Monkton Muskrats and Walton Brewers playing in Brussels.
First thing Saturday morning, the Simcoe Rostock Braves will play the Hamilton Pirates in Brussels at 8:30 a.m., while the Delaware Highlanders will play the Tavistock Merchants at 10:15 a.m. and the Fullarton A’s will play the Owen Sound Selects in their first games of the tournament at 10:30 a.m. in Ethel.
From there, the Championship and Consolation Rounds will begin, with games scheduled from 10:30 a.m. at the Brussels, Morris and Grey Community Centre diamond, the Brussels main diamond and the Ethel diamond through the rest of the day.
The A Division semifinals are scheduled for Saturday night at 6:15 and 8 p.m. at the Brussels main diamond, followed by the finals on Sunday at 5 p.m. The B Division semifinals will be played on Saturday at 9:45 p.m. and Sunday morning at 9 a.m. ahead of the final, which is scheduled for 3 p.m. on Sunday.
The C Division will be decided through semifinal games scheduled for Saturday at 4:30 p.m. in Brussels and 8 p.m. in Ethel, followed by the final, which is scheduled for Sunday at 1 p.m.
The D Division will crown its winner through semifinals scheduled for Saturday at 5:45 p.m. at the Brussels, Morris and Grey Community Centre diamond and at 6:15 p.m. in Ethel. The final is scheduled for Sunday at 11 a.m.
