Public meeting now set for Brussels arena - Nov. 8, 2018

A meeting is now set to bring plans for the renovation and expansion of the Brussels, Morris and Grey Community Centre to the public.
On Tuesday, Nov. 27 at 7:30 p.m., the Brussels, Morris and Grey Recreation Committee, as well as the special project renovation committee and fundraising committee, will be hosting an informational session on the plans at the community centre.
Renovation Committee Chair Doug McArter said that after a productive meeting with the centre’s user groups and a planned meeting with the Lions and Optimist Clubs, the group feels confident in bringing what it has to the public.
At the meeting, McArter hopes to have near-final plans for the renovation and expansion of the centre, as well as a “ballpark” cost estimate so the community will know just how much needs to be raised.
While several rounds of design have taken place and the group has heard from user groups, the design will still be open to public input that night, McArter said.
As for the meeting with the user groups, McArter said the committee members came away feeling reassured about the direction the group was heading. He said that it didn’t seem as though the members missed much, although a few minor tweaks were made through that stage of the process.
He said that committee members came away from the meeting satisfied with the feedback they had received.
For the Nov. 27 meeting, McArter said that those involved with the project hope to have all of their bases covered that night with members from all three bodies in attendance.
