Patels mark two months with Blyth Food Market - Feb. 8, 2018

After nearly two months running the Blyth Food Market, formerly Scrimgeour’s Food Market, the Patel brothers say the store is running well.
“Everything is going nice and smooth,” Krunal Patel said, adding, with a laugh, that the only surprise thus far has been how much snow Blyth gets.
He went on to say there are no plans to change anything with the store in the immediate future and that he is very excited to be part of the community.
“People here are very helpful and welcoming,” he said, adding that he has moved into the community and found everyone to be very friendly.
The staff at the store have helped to make the change-over an easy one, Patel said, including Don Scrimgeour who has stayed on during the transition.
“Don is very energetic and hard-working and all the staff are friendly and co-operative,” he said.
Patel said the store will always be Scrimgeour’s because of the work Don did to build it over the decades he ran it and that any changes will be done in the spirit of making the store follow his vision of providing a service for the community.
“Right now, I’m learning what I need to know,” he said. “There might be some changes, but they will just to be to provide better service.”
Krunal and his brother Pragnesh purchased the store and took over in December last year after Scrimgeour ran the business for nearly 45 years.
