London soccer team signs Londesborough youth - Feb. 8, 2018

Joey Scrimgeour put his best foot forward when he played with Huron FC over two years and, as a result, head coach Edwin Saraccini has signed him to the London Athletic Canadian FC Active Development Soccer Program.
The program, which welcomes players based upon assessment, operates out of London and will see Joey playing on the club’s Spartan Team.
Scrimgeour, of Londesborough, had taken this winter off from the indoor Huron Football Club and Saraccini reached out to ask Scrimgeour to join the London club this summer.
“It was kind of out of the blue,” Scrimgeour said in an interview with The Citizen. “He called my dad and asked if I would play with the Spartans.”
Joining the club means travelling to London two or three times a week, Scrimgeour said, as he has two practices and a game. The games, however, may take him to other centres like St. Thomas and Ingersoll.
“Most of them are clubs out of London,” he said. “We’ll be spending a lot of time on the road.”
Scrimgeour said it should be a good experience.
Saraccini said Huron FC has proven to be a good opportunity for players from the area like Scrimgeour to play in front of scouts.
“What we do at Huron FC is identify, with competitive-oriented training, players that are developing and we move them on to higher-level competition,” he said in an interview with The Citizen. “Joey has been identified as a top athlete to participate in the District Level One team.”
According to Saraccini, Scrimgeour is joining four other players from Huron County identified last year for the program. He said that training season starts right after March break.
